Reflecting on RdSAP 9.92 and what’s in store for 2015

By in DEA on April 2, 2015

As 2015 rumbles on and we hurtle into the traditionally busy period of the year, I have had time to pause and look back at the successful launch of RdSAP 9.92 and what we have learned from it.

With any major software launch – coupled with the challenges of a significant change to the methodology – it was always going to be a challenging period for our members and the Domestic and IT teams. The timing of the launch was also unfavourable.

Stroma decided to manage these changes with a large CPD and guidance roll out across the country – a month long undertaking that took in all territories of the UK and saw my team meet over 1,500 of our members and some new faces too. It was certainly great seeing you all. This CPD helped all involved to appreciate and understand the changes to RdSAP and prepare for the release in December 2014. If you attended, I dearly hope you got as much out of it as my team and I did.

I also spent a fantastic three days on the Stroma stand at Ecobuild 2015. The now-famous beach bar made its annual appearance, and I enjoyed meeting our guests and delivering several 45 minute CPD sessions to around 500 members who attended. We had the busiest stand in the facility and many of our members and industry friends enjoyed our hospitality.

Looking forward, the industry has the upcoming launches of the Green Deal Home Improvement Fund (GDHIF) and ECO 2 on the horizon. Both should bring new work volumes into the industry and pose new challenges for stakeholders. Stroma will be on hand to support our members through these incentives.

New Inventory Scheme and DEA Audit Masterclass CPDs

The success of the RdSAP 9.92 CPD workshops has prompted me to initiate the next round of countrywide CPD sessions which will be coming to a city near you from Mid-April and will continue until Mid-May. Details of this will be released on the Stroma website, Members Area and via our regular email communications.  I aim to cover the topics of the new Stroma Inventory Scheme and software launch as well as a DEA audit masterclass.

The inventory sector is crying out for standardisation to ensure that Inventories can be used for their intended purpose.Yet no such standardisation, driven by qualification and certification, currently exists. Stroma aims to address this, to drive up standards and ensure quality through a meaningful QA process – backed up by reliable software with online storage and diary functionality. The ability to send back a completed, high quality inventory to the agent, on the day of inspection will be music to the ears of Estate Agents and Landlords alike.

The Audit Masterclass will be of great benefit for our Domestic members as this will take the information already available in the February RdSAP Technical Bulletin and expand upon it, with examples of common audit failures and a focus on the new data set brought into play by RdSAP 9.92.

As always, CPD is free with Stroma and will always be so. I look forward to seeing you in the coming months.
